Enigma Foundry
Thanks to the miracle of the clockwork vessel, a member of the Convergence might live a thousand lifetimes upon Caen—provided his soul’s essence chamber remains safe from the predations of enemies. It is the enigma foundries that are essential for safeguarding the essence chambers. They are charged with recovering the souls of those who fall in battle and equipped to rapidly reconstruct clockwork vessels from parts salvaged from the battlefield.

Thoughts on Enigma Foundry
Comparison to Mk2
- Became a bit cheaper
- Repair is now D3+3 instead of D6
- Convocation changed to Gatekeeper, allowing to collect souls from victims of friendly fire / attacks too.
- A minor wording change in placing restrictions after Reconstruction, and a big change about what a resurrected unit can do
Enigma Foundry in a nutshell
Enigma Foundries play very similar role, as the Necrosurgeons do in the Cryx army - they collect the remnants of their fallen brethren, only to reconstruct them later. There are two important differences between them: they can only collect friendly faction soul tokens, and can make medium based infantry as well.
Combos & Synergies
- Any infantry unit (apart of Clockwork Angels, as they tend to operate too far from your main force)
- Consequently, casters, who can offer infantry support (Aurora, Lucant, Axis)
- Another Enigma Foundry. It is downright frustrating, if you can put back models just as fast as the enemy kills them.
Drawbacks & Downsides
- Completely unarmed.
- Lynchpin model on large base - it is a high priority target.
- Enemies with soul collecting tricks can imperil Reconstruction.
Tricks & Tips
- Its defences are its superb armour and its awesome CMD range - keep the distance from the frontline.
- One way to completely neutralize its Reconstruction (apart of shooting the living daylight out of the Foundry) is to wipe out the unit entirely. To counter it, you can
- either bring 2 or more from the same unit, or
- keep a member behind, close to the Foundry to have starting point for Reconstruction (just be vary of the flaws of being out of formation)
- Want to promote Obstructors to Reciprocators? Whack one in the head with another unit member, collect the soul with the Foundry, then create a Reciprocator out of it.
- By the current Steamroller rules, a unit needs 50% of its starting numbers to be alive to control flags / zones. Keep it in mind, sometimes all it takes is a single extra model returned, to put the unit above that limit.
- No one left behind - you can collect the soul of a fallen Foundry with another one.
