Repair does no longer require a skill check. Spare Parts is a new ability which allows a Necrotech to gather scrap tokens. Scrap tokens give a bonus to the Repair action. Create Scrap Thralls works now with scrap tokens and no longer with wreck markers.

A Necrotech, while not a game-breaking solo by itself, is quite easy to fit in almost any list. It has a rock-bottom cost, repairs warjacks and creates [[Scrap Thrall]]s. Against moderate amounts of shooting a Necrotech is actually pretty valuable, as it can keep a 'jack fully functional even if the jack gets hit in exactly the wrong column. With some warcasters, the usefulness of a Necrotech goes up even more. Movement and positioning of a Necrotech is key so that he can repair a 'jack before it activates.

Scrap Thralls are a very cheap option, but rarely used. They belong to the cheapest models in the game and this shows in their performance. If you need some cheap troops to cast spells on, or just like the idea of exploding troops, Scrap Thralls are your men.

Cryx Solo

Part necromancer and part evil genius - spiced with a dash of deranged lunatic - Lord Toruk's necrotechs blend talent and terror. Tasked with the details of constructing the undead soldiers and machines of the Cryxian army, they deliver steady reinforcements to the lines and do not hesitate to use their own dead flesh to test ingenious attachments and necromechanikal augmentations. Necrotechs improvise scrap thralls from heaps of bone and metal taken from corpses and destroyed 'jacks. Once animated, these thralls shamble forth as delivery vehicles for necrotite-enchanced bombs.

Thoughts on Necrotech

Necrotech in a Nutshell

A Necrotech, while not a game-breaking solo by itself, is quite easy to fit in almost any list. It has a rock-bottom cost, repairs warjacks and creates Scrap Thralls.

Combos & Synergies

  • Mortenebra1 can use Overrun to have a 'jack advance to a Necrotech for repairs, then use it's normal movement to advance right back to where it was.
  • He's worth taking with a Colossal, to keep it running as long as possible.
  • He can repair construct warcasters: Deneghra3, Skarre3, and Mortenebra2.

Drawbacks & Downsides

  • He's too slow to keep up with most Cryx jacks.
  • D6 is unreliable and you might not roll enough boxes to reactivate all your systems.
  • Cryx jacks are not the most durable, so they go down before getting repaired more often than not.
  • When creating Scrap Thralls from a wreck, they can't activate and they have be placed nearby. Meaning your Necrotech is now standing in explosion range of at least one of them, more likely a couple. Also all of the Scrap Thralls are likely within explosion range of each other.

Tricks & Tips

  • A Necrotech is a half-decent combat solo considering his cost. Having a long-range melee weapon means he can jam the enemy and threaten a lot of free strikes.

Rules Clarifications

Rules Clarification : Undead - None yet. (Edit)

RC symbol.png

Rules Clarification : Repair      (Edit)

  • When repairing warjacks, you can choose which damage boxes to heal - they don't all have to be the same column.
  • If you get a +1 bonus to a repair roll, that is one extra hitpoint healed. Not +1 to the number of pips showing on the dice.
RC symbol.png

Rules Clarification : Steady      (Edit)

  • If you are hit by a knockdown effect during your own turn then ... nothing happens. Unless it was a Slam or a Throw that knocked you down.
In that situation, there is a core rule that says "models immune to knockdown that become knocked down from a slam or throw must forfeit either movement or action when they activate". But that core rule doesn't apply to other knockdowns (lots of players assume it does)
  • Steady models are still susceptible to other effects of knock-down attacks (if there are any). For instance, a Head Butt attack causes damage and knockdown - a Steady model would still take the damage.
  • A knocked down model that gains Steady will remain knocked down, because the "cannot be knocked down" is not retroactively applied.
  • Steady models who make a tough check during an advance can continue advancing. (Locked Thread)
RC symbol.png

Rules Clarification : Spare Parts      (Edit)

  • If a warjack dies within range of multiple Necrotechs, they all gain a token (not just the closest Necrotech).
    • Because unlike collecting souls and corpse tokens, it's not worded as "this model gains the warjack's scrap token". Instead it's "this model gains a scrap token". (Infernal Ruling)

Rules Clarification : Create Scrap Thrall - None yet. (Edit)
