Prime
This model is available in one Prime Army, Temple Guardians. It can also be used in the Unlimited game mode. You can view the other Mk3 models that made it into a Legacy Army at this page.

Note that the rest of this page is about the model's Mark III rules.

Pyrrhus is more than the epitome of a Flameguard; he represents a pinnacle of Menite devotion and service. With movements honed through years of training, he charges forward to decimate opponents, taking everything while giving nothing in return. His mastery of his weapons extends well beyond that of any of his peers, and his faith in the Creator gives him extraordinary confidence in himself as a conduit for the wrath of Menoth.

Thoughts on Pyrrhus, Flameguard Hero

Pyrrhus, Flameguard Hero in a nutshell

A combat solo who synergises with Temple Flameguard - but not particularly popular as TFG are generally there as cheap bodies. If you're playing Guardians of the Temple, a good option for your free points. Remember that vs a charge attack he is Def 17 Arm 18 even if he is not in B2B with a Temple Flameguard model. He can hold an objective well on his own.

Combos & Synergies

  • Temple Flameguard, obviously. He lets them whack twice, which can become critical mass of attacks given how cheap they are.
  • Vindictus if you want to frustrate your opponent having a unit of Temple Flameguard affect by either of his upkeeps while under his feat and next to Pyrrhus who can’t be targeted by spells is the way to go. Secondly as with all infantry True Path is great.

Drawbacks & Downsides

  • Pyrrhus is an expensive solo supporting a cheap unit.
  • His fantastic Def stat is weakened by needing to be B2B with Temple Flameguard - beware magical AOE damage.
  • Slamming and place effects remove his protection

Tricks & Tips

  • You can use rapid strike with either weapon, so you can beat back twice.
  • if you want to use beat back twice activate Pyrrhus first so he doesn’t walk out of base contact with his brethren.

Rules Clarifications

Rules Clarification : Weapon Master - None yet. (Edit)

RC symbol.png

Rules Clarification : Fire      (Edit)

  • If you deploy in fire hazard terrain (Burning Earth), then you get set on fire before the game starts.
Deploying a model in a hazard counts as being "put into play" in the hazard. Being put into play counts as "entering". When you enter a hazard, you trigger the hazard.
  • Moving into "Shallow water" standard terrain does not cause continuous fire to expire. It's magic fire.
    • You can always use non-standard terrain if you agree with your opponent before the game starts, however.
  • A weapon can inflict continuous fire without itself being a fire damage weapon (for example, the Helios's fists). In this case, the attack can hurt models with Immunity:Fire it just won't apply the continuous effect.
  • In terms of which player's clock is running down during the Maintenance Phase: The active player will roll for expiration of all the continuous effects. Then the inactive player will roll for all the damages of the continuous effects. (Judge Ruling)

Rules Clarification : Shield and/or Buckler     (Edit)

  • The only time you lose the Shield bonus is when the weapon is crippled, or if the attack originates in your back arc. (Infernal Ruling)
    • In other words, you still get the Shield bonus while knocked down or stationary.
  • You don't get the Shield bonus vs stuff originating in your back arc. This includes stuff that "leaps" off models in your back arc, such as Electro Leap. (Locked thread)

Rules Clarification : Beat Back      (Edit)

  • You cannot use Beat Back if you destroy the target; because you can't advance towards a model that is no longer on the table. (Infernal Ruling)
  • You can trigger Beat Back even if the model is no longer in your melee range after the attack. For instance, if you used a Pitch to throw it away, you can still Beat it Back. (Locked thread)
  • The free advance doesn't depend on the target being pushed, but it is dependent on you trying to push them:
    • If you try to push something which Cannot Be Pushed (such as a Colossal), then it won't move and then you can advance directly towards it.
    • If you choose not to push your target, then you choose not to trigger Beat Back, so you don't get to advance.
    • (mk2 Ruling)
  • Beat Back can be used to push larger models.
  • Push - General     (Edit)   [Show/Hide]
    • Pushed models do not change their facing.
    • Pushed models move at half rate through difficult terrain. Also, Pathfinder doesn't apply during pushes.
    • Pushed models stop if they contact anything - a model of any size, or any obstacles or obstructions.
    • You don't get free strikes against pushed models, because it is "involuntary movement" and therefore does not count as an advance.
    • Pushed models suffer the effects of anything they move through (such as acid clouds).
    • If you use a Push vs a charging model (via a free strike for example), this will stop the charge movement (refer core rulebook).
      • However, if the pushed model is in melee range of its charge target after the push, then it is considered a successful charge. (Infernal Ruling)
      • In that scenario, you measure whether the charging model moved 3" or less excluding the push distance. (Infernal Ruling)
    • If you push a model to a position where it regains Incorporeal (for instance you push it out of range of an Exorcist) then what happens is (Being Checked by Infernals)

Rules Clarification : Tough - None yet. (Edit)

RC symbol.png

Rules Clarification : Impenetrable Shield      (Edit)

  • If an attack has Damage Type: Magical it will ignore Impenetrable Shield (Infernal Ruling)
    • In other words, "Non-magical melee or ranged attacks" means "Melee or ranged attacks that do not have Damage Type: Magical".

Rules Clarification : Relentless Charge      (Edit)

RC symbol.png

Rules Clarification : Leadership      (Edit)

  • If you have two Leaders handing out the same buff, then sometimes they stack (Bronzeback) and sometimes they don't (Exemplar Bastion). (Infernal Ruling)
    • See specific models for case-by-case Infernal Rulings.
  • If you have two Leaders handing out different buffs (such as Iona's Leadership giving Dodge, and the Wolf Rider Champion's Leadership giving Prowl) then the benefits do stack - they'll get both Dodge and Prowl. (Infernal Ruling)

Rules Clarification : Rapid Strike - None yet. (Edit)
Rules Clarification : Set Defense - None yet. (Edit)
