Khador’s mechaniks build their warjacks to last. This sturdy chassis has given rise to other staples like the Destroyer, whose whistling shells arcing overhead portend explosive obliteration.

Thoughts on the Destroyer
The Destroyer in a nutshell
The Destroyer is fire support heavy. It brings a range 14, POW 14, arcing fire AOE gun so it can safely sit in a zone on your side of the board to contest and fire away with impunity. It doesn't need much support doing its job well either. At 13 points is is also costed just right for infantry casters as most of them 27 or 28 WJPs, meaning you can take one plus another cost 13-14 heavy without eating into your 75 army points. So, if you look for a low commitment fire-support jack just to fill your Warjackpoints with, look no further than the Destroyer!
Combos & Synergies
- Irusk is THE infantry warcaster, in both of his instances. Thus he loves a pair of Destroyers, who only cost 1 point less than his Warjack points and can sit safely behind whatever huge army you brought with him. His epic incarnation also has Fire for Effect for him.
- The Bombard's long range makes it great for lobbing shots at anything that happens to get knocked down. Deploy them with Winter Guard Field Gun Crew, Decimator or a Grolar. The POW of the bombard is not insignificant and can carry the extra damage needed to scrap an enemy jack.
- Winter Guard Artillery Kapitan is a great piece for fixing the normally abysmal RAT of the Destroyer.
- The Man-o-War Kovnik is a viable way to run a Destroyer and allow it to make use of both its weapons.
- Kommander Harkevich, the Iron Wolf is a fan of Destroyers, as taking several of them allows him to use his Broadside spell very effectively.
- The Greylord Adjunct provides Guidance, which is awesome with Arcing Fire!
Drawbacks & Downsides
- It's melee game is limited. Crit Amp sounds like a great ability on paper, in practise, you'll find that you often fail to do damage to your target, of just fill out the last boxes in the column with you normal damage roll anyway.
- While it does have the probably best gun on a non-character heavy in Khador, it's still "only" POW 14, don't expect it to wreck heavies.
- There's nothing fancy about it. You let it sit back, lobbing shells into the enemy, not commiting to a charge until you're forced to.
- While more than twice as expensive, the two colossals also have a fantastic ranged game (Victor even shares the Arcing Fire rule), while also being great in melee, and also do not need much input from your caster.
- RAT 4 is really sad and PP seems to think it is crucial for Khador jacks to be stuck at this value, so it's unlikely to be adressed in future CIDs. If you want to hit anything you will need to aim and boost.
Tricks & Tips
- Deploy just behind a line of infantry. Then fire at the opposing models, aiming for low defense models and attempt to drift AOEs against support models. Once the front line is engaged, then charge any breaks in the line, and let your axe remove already-damaged enemy jacks.
- Critical amputation has a huge boost against Gargantuans; as it fills all unmarked damage box on a damage spiral's branch, you can completely remove a whole aspect with a lucky roll. Not something to build a strategy on, but spectacular, when it comes into play.
- Due to Arcing Fire only a huge-based model can screen a target from your Bombard Cannon - in every other situation you'll clip it, either with the blast damage, or with a direct hit via arcing fire (a medium AoE has a 50,8 mm radius, 0,4 mm larger than a large base's radius plus the max 1" distance where arcing fire won't trigger). Don't forget that other targeting restrictions still apply.
